The project of the Observatory on internazionalisation of Italian schools and pupil mobility, was launched in September 2009. The website www.scuolerinternazionali.org collects all the information related to the Observatory and it is a useful platform for the schools interested in promoting international activities.
The aim of the Observatory is to understand how to implement the internationalization of Italian schools and to promote the valorization of foreign students hosted in Italy.
One of the Observatory's main activities is to survey the state of Italian schools with regards to internationalization. From 2009 to 2011 the survey was focused on teachers’ and Principals’ attitudes toward international projects. The 2012 survey will focus on students' and parents' attitude toward internationalization. Results are published on the Observatory web site, www.scuoleinternazionali.org (in Italian). The surveys will continue every year.
The Observatory, in order to support the schools involved in youth mobility programmes, provides training sessions for secondary school teachers and headmasters, best practices and an informative newsletter.
Furthermore, in cooperation with Fondazione Telecom, InterculturaLAB was launched in 2011, providing a guided path to students and teachers participating in class exchanges.
